Breaking weather news: There’s ice in Glendale and it’s going to be there at least until April 13. That’s the end of the regular NHL season, but the Phoenix Coyotes are looking forward to keeping Jobing.com Arena frozen well into the playoffs.
The Coyotes preseason starts Sunday, but I’m excited about something else right now: The Coyotes have a home. Yes, with brand new ownership and a brand new deal with the City of Glendale and the arena, we all know they finally have a place to call home.
But what I’m talking about is their new radio home. Beginning Sunday, every Coyotes game — preseason, regular season and the playoffs — will be on sister stations Arizona Sports 620, News/talk 92.3 or KMVP 860. And what a great year to have all that radio coverage. People are really starting to believe that hockey in the desert may just be beginning a whole new era; that’s certainly true with all this new radio exposure.
I’m more optimistic about the Phoenix Coyotes than I ever have been. The puck stops here. Mr. Stanley, your cup is way more than half full.
I’m Pat McMahon.
