Time for ASU fans to get off their ‘A’ and support U of A

Hey, basketball fans, it’s a great year in our state for hoops.
With the exception of the Phoenix Suns, there has been a lot of successes.
NAU has had a good season. GCU will move into Division I under the coaching leadership of Dan Majerle, the Sun Devils made it to the NIT. U of A is in the Sweet Sixteen of the NCAA tournament, playing Ohio State on Thursday.
Listen, for a state that doesn’t immediately come to mind when the subject is great basketball traditions, that’s a good year. This isn’t Indiana, Iowa or Illinois. Our high school state tournaments are played before all too many empty seats.
But this year, the University of Arizona Wildcats are considered a real contender to take the whole thing for the second time. And you know everybody would love to see that happen, that is everybody but that loud, misguided group of Devil devotees who can’t imagine supporting anything south of Picacho Peak.
Look, we’re all in this state together and if they’re not playing each other, every real fan should root for every Arizona team.
So, Sun Devil fans, until next year, get off your “A” and bear down.
I’m Pat McMahon.
