Deadly Illinois tornado caught on tape
Nov 18, 2013, 7:30 PM
A resident of Washington, Ill. was able to capture a tornado on film before it devastated the small town.
The video was filmed by Joshua Monda outside of his church and is hard to watch. What looks like a stormy day quickly turns scary after a tornado touches down and begins to grow incredibly fast.
As the video progresses, Monda begins retreating while the tornado gets closer. It closes out right as the tornado sirens sound.
Washington Mayor Gary Manier estimated that 250 to 500 homes had been damaged or destroyed by the tornado. It wasn’t clear when residents would be allowed to return.
At least six people were killed in Illinois and two more in Michigan. Dozens were injured.
