BERLIN (AP) — A closely-watched survey shows German consumers remain optimistic as their economic expectations and willingness to make purchases have been bolstered by robust domestic demand and low inflation rates.

The GfK research group said Wednesday its forward-looking consumer climate index rose to 10.2 points for June, up from 10.1 points in May.

The survey of 2,000 consumers showed economic expectations rising, indicating that the protracted negotiations between Greece and its creditors to determine whether Athens will get more financial aid “still do not seem to have a lasting impact on consumers.”

Income expectations dropped slightly from a post-reunification high last month, but consumers’ overall willingness to buy increased, which GfK says can be attributed to a positive employment situation, good income growth and low inflation.
