Eastern Arizona fire causes hazy day in Phoenix

Jun 3, 2014, 12:46 PM | Updated: 12:46 pm

PHOENIX — Valley residents woke to a hazy day Tuesday courtesy of a wildfire burning in eastern Arizona.

Charlotte Dewey with the National Weather Service said the haze is smoke blowing in from the Skunk Fire burning more than 100 miles east of Phoenix.

“If you’re really sensative to smoke or increased pollution, stay indoors,” she said. “But there’s no healthwatch in effect. It’s not good to breathe it but it’s not dangerous.”

The Skunk Fire, east of San Carlos, has burned almost 60,000 acres and is expected to be contained on Friday.
