With Missouri defensive lineman Michael Sam looking to become the first openly gay NFL player, a Texas sports anchor got in front of the camera Monday night for a Bob Costas-like monologue about the topic.
Dale Hansen of ABC affiliate WFAA talked about how gay players will fare in the NFL during his “Hansen Unplugged” two-minute segment.
The anchor talks about all the deplorable things some players have done off the field yet still find themselves welcomed in the NFL. He then opines that a player’s sexuality should be one of the least of a team’s worries.
He covers the topic fairly evenhandedly, and offers some food for thought in the process. He concludes that we should celebrate our differences, even in the locker room.
