Boston Police: Harvard incident may not be related to marathon tragedy

Apr 15, 2013, 8:36 PM | Updated: Apr 16, 2013, 6:56 pm

Boston law enforcement has downgraded what had previously been announced as a third explosion Monday to a fire started by an “incendiary device.”

The fire at the John F. Kennedy Library occurred about 90 minutes after two explosions killed three and injured 170 near the finish line of the Boston Marathon.

Boston Police Commissioner Ed Davis originally said authorities were treating the explosion at the John F. Kennedy Library as if it was related to the marathon bombings.”

Police eventually said the library fire didn’t appear to be connected to the marathon bombs.

Police found several other devices near the marathon course.
