Dignity Health opens new emergency room in Glendale, Ariz.

PHOENIX — In an effort to provide Arizona citizens with an easier access to health care across the state, Dignity Health has opened up a new emergency room facility in Glendale, Arizona.

The health care corporation welcomed Dignity Health Arizona General Hospital Emergency Room, its newest freestanding emergency room, in Glendale on July 15. The location is the second freestanding ER the company has opened this year; the first one is in Chandler.

Matthew Cox, Dignity Health’s Chief Financial Officer, said the facility is equipped with the necessary essentials that would also be found at a hospital.

“It’s a 24-7 emergency room, similar to what you’d find at a hospital, so it has board certified emergency room physicians and emergency trained nurses,” he said.

The emergency room also has radiology technologists and is equipped with a full radiology suite.

“The services at the new freestanding emergency room in Glendale are emergency services that you’d find at a small hospital emergency room,” Cox said.

Linda Hunt, President and CEO of Dignity Health in Arizona, said the newest facility will aim to provide citizens with the best access to health care.

“We are focused on providing the best access to care of any health care system in Arizona and this new facility will help achieve that goal,” she said in a recent press release.

In addition to the newest freestanding emergency room, Dignity Health is also in charge of five hospitals across Arizona: Arizona General, Chandler Regional and Mercy Gilbert Medical Centers and St. Joseph’s Hospital, which includes Barrow Neurological Institute and St. Joseph’s Westgate Medical Center.

The new emergency room is located at 5171 West Olive Avenue.
