PHOENIX – The City of Mesa cut the ribbon on a new state-of-the-art office space on Wednesday that it expects will continue transforming its Fiesta District.

The more than 100,000-square-foot office complex is called Centrica. What was once the retail center of Mesa near Southern Avenue and Alma School Road is now part of a shift in focus for the area.

“Our goal is to land a Fortune 100 company,” said Ryan Bartos with Savills Studley, which represents the complex’s owners, Phoenix Rising Investments, LLC.

The facility is one of the largest adaptive reuse projects in Arizona, according to the City of Mesa.

Bartos said the Class-A office space is complete with updated power capabilities and fiber optics to accommodate a modern workplace. The entire facility was designed with the needs of millennials in mind.

“I think a lot of tenants, specifically the millennial demographic think that this is cool, it’s different, it’s really unique and it’s a little bit nostalgic as opposed to just going into a high-rise building,” Bartos said.

Mesa Mayor John Giles said the city has been investing a lot in the corridor along Southern Avenue to revitalize the area, and the addition of a major office complex is another step in the right direction.

“What you’re going to see is thousands of people coming to work here in a very vibrant part of town that does have retail and shopping and education right across the street,” he said.
