PHOENIX — It’s getting hot, hot, hot here in Phoenix.

As the city welcomed in a new month, we also welcomed the first 100-degree day of the year.

And so it begins.

The first 100-degree day marks the beginning of a long and smoldering hot summer here in the Valley, which can last well into September.

While the hotter weather seems to have hit the city earlier than usual, it could be way worse. The first 100-degree days in previous years have fallen on May 31, 2010, April 1, 2011, May 29, 2012, April 28, 2013 and May 19, 2014, according to National Weather Service Phoenix.

The scolding weather comes shortly after a several parts of the Valley saw heavy showers, thunderstorms and strong winds during the weekend of April 24.

Temperatures are expected to drop into the low-90s by early next week and could hit the upper- to mid-80s on Tuesday and Wednesday.

We want to hear from you.
