PHOENIX — A man upset over family business
decisions killed his mother, brothers, a sister-in-law
and himself in a north Phoenix home Thursday.

Police said the bodies of victims Reda Diaeddinn, 38,
Dodi Fayed, 56, Kenza Benzakour, 76, and Meriem Ben
Yahia, 26, along with that of suspected shooter, 50-
year-old Driss Diaeddinn, were found shot to death in
the house near 44th Street and Bell Road.

Two women and two children managed to escape the house
uninjured.

Officers arrived at the house around 2 p.m. after
receiving a frantic call.

“Our dispatcher could hear shots fired in the
background while that call was coming in,” Sgt. Trent
Crump said. “A caller had been able to escape the home
at that point, get out and start to give us
information.”

Police and a SWAT team used a megaphone to communicate
with someone inside the house, who spoke Arabic, Crump
said. The family was from Morocco.

Witnesses said they had heard muted gunshots.

TV footage showed several SWAT team officers breaking
into the house through a glass patio door.

A tactical robot was sent in.

“It is a terrible crime scene,” Crump said. The
suspected shooter was found in a bedroom.

The names of the five and their ages weren’t
immediately released.

Neighbors told KTAR News that the family owned and
operated a limousine transportation service.

KTAR’s Jim Cross and Cooper Rummell and the
Associated Press contributed to this report.
