Arizonans stay in state for their college pursuits

According a report published by the Washington Post, Arizona ranks among the top states in the country when it comes to keeping college-bound students in state.

Alongside states like Utah, Iowa and West Virginia, Arizona retains approximately 90 percent of its college-bound students, due in large part to the number of colleges and universities located within the state.

States like Utah, Arizona, Iowa and West Virginia all have large numbers of college spots compared to the number of college-bound students they graduate. These are also states where close to 90 percent students stick around. – Jeff Guo, Washington Post

While the report notes that states like California, Texas and Michigan all have have well-regarded public university systems, they are slightly undersized for the population they serve and are often more expensive compared to that of less populated states with an abundance of college seats.

Vermont, New Hampshire, Connecticut and New Jersey rank among the nation’s worst at keep college students in state.
