AT&T releases ‘COWs’ in anticipation of Super Bowl

Jan 23, 2015, 6:00 AM | Updated: 6:00 am

Just in time for the big game, AT&T has released the COWs.

“Definitely doesn’t go moo or eat grass,” said spokesman John Cole. “What you’re looking at is Cell On Wheels (COWs), (a) temporary transmission facility to focus capacity where our customers are to ensure that we can meet their needs.”

AT&T has deployed over a dozen COWs, completed upgrades to the Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS) at football stadiums and venues throughout the greater Phoenix area and upgraded or installed over a dozen new DAS systems in areas expected to have a lot of activities in the days leading up to the big game.

“Last year, more than 624-gigabits of information passed across AT&T’s network, that’s the equivalent of 1.8 million social media posts,” said Cole. “If we didn’t take these extra steps, our customers would not receive the service they deserve.”

We want to hear from you.
