PHOENIX — While a lot of Phoenix-area residents are excited to welcome a massive Super Bowl crowd, a few of us would rather use this time to rent our homes for a profit or sneak away for a vacation.

The people over at TravelZoo understand your pain and addressed it in an email blast earlier this week.

“You can afford a vacation, and your mortgage,” website managing editor Andrew Young said.

With hotel rates here in the Valley sky high for the influx of guests, rooms in places like San Diego, Las Vegas and even Chicago can be had for as much as 50 percent off.

So if you are one of those people who rented their home for the week and plan on taking a nice break or just one of those people who want to avoid the hubbub, check out TravelZoo’s suggestions below. For your convenience, we broke it down into driving or flying destinations.

Hit the road, Jack

Arizona is conveniently located between a lot of attractive driving options. Whether it’s the beach or the mountains, you’re just a few hours and a tank of gas away from leaving the crowds behind.

San Diego

We want to hear from you.
