West valley children meet NFL stars at school as part of NFL Play 60

Two hundred students at a west valley elementary school got a taste of the NFL Wednesday afternoon.

Nineteen NFL players showed up at Luke School near Luke Air Force base to talk with the kids and play games with them during an NFL Play 60 event.

Detroit Lions safety Glover Quin loves meeting the kids.

“The kids are so innocent and easily inspired and motivated. So to be able to be a part of these kids lives and an experience that they’ll remember forever is a great feeling,” Quin said.

Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford told the students that they can be whatever they want to be in life.

“We all had dreams and aspirations,” said Stafford. “I went to school with kids who wanted to be doctors and lawyers, and they achieved that goal.

“There’s steps along the way that you have to take. Make a list of some things that maybe you want to be or want to do, and shoot for the stars.”

Several other big name players were at the event, including Stafford’s teammate, Golden Tate. Greg Olsen of the Carolina Panthers and Darren Sproles of the Philadelphia Eagles were also on hand.

We want to hear from you.
