PHOENIX — A flight from San Francisco to Phoenix was diverted Tuesday after a passenger gave birth in the sky.
So…a lady just delivered a baby mid flight to Phoenix. That was a first for me. #recruitingtrail

A flight-tracking website said Southwest flight 623 left San Francisco about 6:30 a.m. and landed in Los Angeles about 7:40 a.m. after the baby was born.
A spokeswoman for the airline told KTLA the woman gave birth shortly after departure.
A nurse and doctor were coincidentally on the flight and assisted in the delivery and care of the mother and baby until flight crews landed the plane and paramedics could take over.
A woman whose mother was a flight attendant on the diverted plane tweeted KTAR to say how unusual the situation was.
@KTAR923 no problem! Flight attendants get some weird stuff on flights, my moms been with SWA for 35 years but never delivered a baby!

Officials told KTLA both mom and baby are doing well.
