Arizona Cardinals quarterback Drew Stanton hosts football camp for kids

PHOENIX — Some Phoenix middle school kids got to play football with a member of the Arizona Cardinals on Tuesday.
About 100 students from Madison Park Middle School, near 16th Street and Campbell Avenue, got a visit from Arizona Cardinals quarterback Drew Stanton, who took some time to show the kids a few football techniques.
“To get a chance to come out here and try and make a positive impact on these kid’s lives is something that I take very seriously,” he said.
As part of the NFL’s Play 60 campaign, which encourages kids to get outdoors and exercise for at least 60 minutes per day, Stanton put on a miniature football training camp for the students.
The 100 or so fifth- through eighth-graders completed running, throwing, catching and non-contact hitting drills. Stanton said he was glad to come out and take some time to give back to local students.
“You have to take your job very seriously and one of those responsibilities it to come out and be a part of the community and get involved,” he said.
