Race car to honor Granite Mountain Hotshots during Phoenix stop

PHOENIX — One of the drivers racing around the track during Nov. 9’s NASCAR race at Phoenix International Raceway will be doing it in a car that honors some local heroes.
It’s the No. 1 car sponsored by Liftmaster and driven by Jamie McMurray. It will honor the 19 Granite Mountain Hotshot firefighters who lost their lives battling the Yarnell Hill fire last year.
“We’ve put all of their names on the hood of the car,” said company spokesman Neal Villarin.
Liftmaster has also donated $10,000 to the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation. Villarin said that Liftmaster is honored to dedicate this weekend to the memory of the firefighters who lost their lives while serving and protecting their community.
McMurray enters the race in 18th place for NASCAR’s Sprint Cup.
