PHOENIX — A Bornean orangutan baby debuted at the Phoenix Zoo with its mother on Monday.
Both Bess and her new baby are doing well, according to Phoenix Zoo spokeswoman Linda Hardwick.
Bornean orangutan newborns spend their first four to five months “on” their mothers or clinging to them tightly, Hardwick said.
Bess is a very attentive mother and has been doing an excellent job taking care of the baby, Hardwick added.
The newest member of the zoo’s orangutans appeared about 10 a.m. which is located at 455 N. Galvin Parkway in Phoenix.
