5 things you probably didn’t know about John Lennon

Time flies. Rock icon John Lennon would have turned 74 on Thursday.

The former Beatle, who penned such solo hits as “Imagine,” “Instant Karma” and “Give Peace a Chance,” was gunned down in New York City on Dec. 8, 1980 at the age of 40.

His place in music history has been secured since he and three other guys from Liverpool starting piling up hits internationally in 1964.

There has been so much written about Lennon, it must seem that everyone knows it all, but here are a few things you may not know about him:
