PHOENIX — A federal agency announced Tuesday that disaster-relief loans would be available to Arizonans whose homes and businesses were damaged in last month’s storms.

The Small Business Administration said Maricopa and Pinal counties were among those to be offered assistance starting Tuesday. The agency said Gov. Jan Brewer made a request Sept. 3, after a pair of storms ravaged Laveen, near South Mountain, and New River, north of Phoenix within a week of each other.

Homeowners can apply for loans of up to $200,000 for repairs to property and homeowners and renters have up to $40,000 for personal property.

Businesses and private nonprofits can apply for loans up to $2 million.

Two field operations centers are open in the Phoenix area, each open weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.:

• Travis L. Williams Family Center, 4732 S. Central Ave., Phoenix

• Daisy Mountain Fire Station 141, 43814 N. New River Road

Applications are also online.

Filing deadline for destroyed property is Nov. 4.
