PHOENIX — Former Arizona State University quarterback Andrew Walter came up short in his congressional primary run on Tuesday night.

Walter ran against Wendy Rogers, a former Air Force pilot, in Arizona’s 9th Congressional District.

The 31-year-old Walter played at ASU from 2001-2005 and broke multiple school records. He then played in the National Football League for four years, splitting his professional career between the Oakland Raiders and New England Patriots.

Since retiring, he’s earned an MBA, worked for his own credit firm and as a banking analyst.
