Scottsdale hotels continue to thrive, despite slower summer

PHOENIX — Business continues to boom for Scottsdale hotels, despite a small slip.

According to the Phoenix Business Journal, hotels and resorts in the Scottsdale-Paradise Valley area saw gains in two key areas in June: Average daily rate and revenue per available room.

The third key area — occupancy — fell to 54.8 percent, a 2.3 percent decrease from May’s numbers. With many people leaving the Valley to escape the oppressive heat, a decrease is neither uncommon nor surprising.

ADR (Average Daily Rate) [for Scottsdale] climbed 7.2 percent to $114.73, while RevPAR (Revenue Per Available Room) jumped nearly 5 percent to $62.84.

Overall, hotels in the U.S. saw occupancy rise in June to 3.3 percent year to date. Both ADR and RevPAR also increased.
