Agents seize 312 pounds of pot, 8 smugglers arrested

PHOENIX — A total of 312 pounds of marijuana have been seized in Dateland by Border Patrol agents in the Yuma Sector on Wednesday.

Eight smugglers were arrested and turned in to the Yuma County Narcotics Task Force.

Suspicious footprints were seen by Wellton Border Patrol agents, which led them to the Aztec Dairy to a tree line.

After searching the area, seven backpacks filled with marijuana were found hidden within the trees.

The drugs have an estimated value of $156,000.
