Foster Farms chicken recalled in Arizona, other states

Jul 4, 2014, 8:26 AM | Updated: 8:27 am

PHOENIX — You may want to check your chicken before throwing it on the grill this holiday weekend.

Foster Farms is recalling 170 of its chicken products after being linked with an outbreak of salmonella. The strain, which is resistant to antibiotics, has sickened more than 500 people nationwide in the past few months.

The recalled products have a “use or freeze by” dates from March 21 to Match 29. They were distributed in Alaska, Arizona, California, Idaho, Hawaii, Nevada, Oregon, Utah and Washington.

Foster Farms said the recall stemmed from a single case and was primarily a precaution.

Consumers with the recalled chicken should contact the purchase location.
