PHOENIX — The American Legion said Friday the resignation of former Secretary of Veterans Affairs Eric Shinseki is just the beginning of necessary reforms in veteran health care.
“We are relieved that officials that are in positions of authority within the Department of Veterans Affairs that are responsible for the health care of our veterans — when they’re not doing their jobs — they need to be replaced,” said National legislative Director Louis Celli.
The American Legion was the first veterans’ group to call for Shinseki’s resignation after it was revealed veterans nationwide were waiting hundreds of days to see a doctor, including those in Phoenix.
