Arizona Diamondbacks to celebrate Military Appreciation Day

May 26, 2014, 5:00 AM | Updated: 2:36 pm

PHOENIX — The Arizona Diamondbacks are celebrating Military Appreciation Day at the ballpark Monday. They will be honoring all members of our armed forces for Memorial Day.

The Diamondbacks have many activities planned for the day.

“It starts with people coming through the gates and the first 15,000 will get a camouflage replica jersey; we’re excited about that and of course we have a bunch of fun field and pre-game festivities,” said Diamondbacks president and CEO Derrick Hall.

Hall said there will be a national moment of silence during the game to honor all of the brave men and women who fight for our freedom.

“We try to honor those that have served or are serving, retired each and every game. As you know, I think it’s in the third inning that we ask everybody to stand and be recognized; yet on this day we are able to do it really with a national feel and a national effort,” said Hall.

The game starts at 5:10 p.m. Fans can catch the game on Arizona Sports on 98.7 FM.

There is a 50 percent military discount available to those with a valid military ID. The offer is available at the Chase Field Box Office. You can reach them at (602) 514-8400. For more information please visit dbacks.com/military.

We want to hear from you.
