Mystery solved: Suspicious package at ASU’s Tempe campus was classwork

PHOENIX — A suspicious package found near a building at Arizona State University’s main campus Wednesday has been determined to be a student’s project.
The suspicious box-like package left atop a parking meter near the Tempe Center at 10th Street and Mill Avenue turned out to be classwork that included electrical wiring. A student merely forgot it in a rush to get to class.
Campus police said someone reported the package and that cy police were then called. The center houses offices and two student art galleries.
According to ASU Alerts, there is an active police situation at Tempe Center. Will give updates as information becomes available.
