Procession for slain Phoenix officer to close Valley freeway

PHOENIX — A large portion of a Valley freeway will be closed Monday for the funeral procession of slain Phoenix Police Det. John Hobbs.

The eastbound Loop 101 will be closed between 75th Avenue and Seventh Street from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Arizona Department of Transportation said.

The north- and southbound Interstate 17 ramps to eastbound Loop 101 will also be closed.

The procession will make its way from Christ’s Church of the Valley to Phoenix Memorial Park. The following rolling closures will be in effect, including the Loop 101 closure:

• 67th Avenue will be closed between Happy Valley Road and the Loop 101.

• Eastbound Loop 101 will be closed between 75th Avenue and Seventh Street.

• The northbound Loop 101 on-ramps at Bell Road and Union Hills Drive will be closed.

• The north- and southbound Interstate 17 ramps to eastbound Loop 101 will be closed.

• The westbound Loop 101 off-ramp at Seventh Avenue will be closed.
