PHOENIX — The first round of the 2014 Waste Management Open set a new Thursday record, as 88,113 fans came through the turnstiles at the TPC Scottsdale.
The previous Thursday record (83,657) was set back in 2008.
After one round of play, Bubba Watson and W.E. Yang sit atop the leaderboard at minus-seven a piece.
With a strong attendance show through the first four days of the event, the 2014 WM Open has a decent chance to break the all-time tournament record of 538,356 — set back in 2009.
