1 dead, another critical after Phoenix crash

One person is dead and another in critical condition after a driver ran a red light in Phoenix Saturday night.
According to Phoenix police, a Nissan Altima traveling east on Cactus Road failed to stop for a red traffic signal and collided with a Kia Optima traveling north on 43rd Avenue.
A passenger in the Nissan died at an area hospital and the driver sustained life-threatening injuries and was in critical condition, according to police. Neither were wearing a seat belt, police said, and the victim’s name wasn’t yet released.
The driver of the Kia sustained minor injuries and was released from an area hospital, according to police.
Police said neither driver was impaired at the time of the crash.
