Mesa man surrenders after barricading in apartment

PHOENIX — A domestic dispute in Mesa that turned into a shooting and an overnight barricade situation was resolved without injury, said police.
A gas attack eventually forced the man and woman out of an an apartment near Brown Road and Horne around 2 a.m. on WSednesday, four hours after police had arrived.
Officers said when they arrived they saw a woman inside the unit, and she was yelling for help. They also saw a man with what looked like a gun. Officers broke into the unit and the man drew his weapon and officers fired.
A police spokesman said the man managed to close the door, setting the barricade situation into motion.
