What factors cause you to pay less at the pump?

In general, people don’t really care why gas prices go down. As long as we all pay less at the pump, we’re generally fairly happy.

But have you ever wondered why the local station is offering gas cheaper than it was last week? The Washington Post took a look and it involves an array of reasons.

As we all know, gas prices are seasonal. But there are a lot more factors. For example, the United States has a lot more gasoline on its hands because its exporting more diesel to Asia and Europe and a quiet hurricane season hasn’t interrupted production.

A demand for gas and a drop in oil prices have also led to a 33-month low for gas prices.

Here’s hoping all these trends continue and we can see gas below $3 per gallon in the Valley.
