Top drug store official optimistic about future of healthcare

PHOENIX — Despite all of the problems with Obamacare, a top official with one of the nation’s largest drug store chains is optimistic about the future of healthcare.
Walgreens Executive Vice President Wade Miquelon believes that, in some ways, the country is going in the right direction when it comes to healthcare.
“We’re moving more towards a healthcare system that I call “‘outcome based,'” said Miquelon. “Instead of a pay for use, where everybody gets paid regardless of how much use and reimbursed, we’re moving more to where everybody agrees we’re moving towards outcomes. We need to make sure that we’re incentivizing and rewarding providers and other players that can deliver better healthcare at a lower cost.”
When asked if he is frustrated over the problems with Obamacare, Miquelon replied, “I don’t want to comment on that.”
Miquelon also added that patience may be the key when it comes to the Affordable Healthcare Act. He noted that many times when something new is started, there are kinks that have to be worked out.
