Nov 8, 2013, 3:55 PM | Updated: 4:22 pm

PHOENIX — A Phoenix man shot a potential burglar on Friday, police said.

“A homeowner [said] he encountered a burglar breaking in to his house,” said Phoenix Police Sgt. Steve Martos. “There was a confrontation, at which point the homeowner shot at this particular suspect.”

The shooting happened near 34th Lane and Brown.

Police combed the area, but did not find the suspect. However, a local hospital reported a man with a gunshot wound and police believe he is the suspect. He is in critical condition.

Police have also detained a female suspect. They believe she may have been the getaway driver.
