Tempe Police shot a man who refused to heed a warning to put down a weapon Thursday morning near Arizona State University.
The intersection at Mill Avenue at University Drive has been re-opened after being closed most of the day.
Police said a 36-year-old Austin Del Castillo was standing in front of a restaurant at the corner and armed with a box cutter. He would not obey commands made by the officer and made an abrupt move toward the officer. The officer then fired at him.
