Phoenix man killed by lightning in eastern Arizona

PHOENIX — A trip to Scott Reservoir near Pinetop, Ariz., turned deadly for a Phoenix man after he was struck by lightning on Friday.

Navajo County Sheriff Chief Deputy Jim Molesa said Frank Moren was killed after lightning struck the front part of his body.

“People that were at the lake started CPR, but to no avail,” he said. “Mr. Moren succumbed to his injuries shortly after 1 [p.m.]”

Molesa said the county medical examiner has taken possession of the body.

No one else was injured.
