APS: Outage leaves Bagdad residents without power

Jun 18, 2013, 10:12 PM | Updated: Jun 19, 2013, 4:56 am

PHOENIX — A power outage that began around 12:00 p.m. Tuesday afternoon has left 971 customers without power, according to an APS spokesperson.

Jenna Shaver of APS said the outage was related to the ongoing wildfire that has burned about 5,000 acres near Prescott.

“Due to heavy smoke in the area from the fire, the APS transmission line that feeds the town of Bagdad was de-energized,” Shaver said.

APS is currently working with the Prescott National Forest Service to assess infrastructure in the area, but there is no estimated time for power to return.
