PHOENIX — The Arizona Office of Tourism is targeting Mexico in hopes to bring in more tourist dollars.
“Mexico visitation is a vital component to the overall economic impact of Arizona’s travel and tourism industry,” information provided by AOT said.
To increase international visitation from Mexico AOT partnered with Brand USA, one of Arizona’s most important visitor segments, to leverage the agency’s marketing dollars and boost promotional efforts throughout Mexico. Currently there are advertisements in major newsprint publications and luxury magazines, digital ads and special promotions and giveaways.
“We are getting some really good feedback,” said AOT Deputy Director Mark Stanton. “It’s been strong.”
In 2011, Mexican visitation made up 67 percent of Arizona’s total international visitation. The most recent economic study indicates that in 2007 through 2008, Mexican tourist pumped over $2.5 billion into the state.
