Poll: Most Arizonans favor path to citizenship

PHOENIX — A new poll showed that a majority of Arizonans support a path to citizenship for people living in the country illegally.
A new Rocky Mountain poll from the Behavior Research Center said almost 75 percent of the 700 Arizonans surveyed are also in favor of granting work papers to those who wish to work in the U.S. and move back and forth across the border.
The catch is the respondents approve only if immigrants are “playing by the rules,” which means having no criminal record, paying their taxes, registering their presence in the U.S. and learning to speak English.
Young adults in the state are among the strongest supporters along with political moderates. Six of 10 political conservatives also line up behind these ideas.
