No fun to be had: Phoenix racers seek refund from 5K

Mar 26, 2013, 12:33 PM | Updated: 12:33 pm

PHOENIX — Organizers of a fun run are apologizing after many claims that runners weren’t given the experience advertised.

Advertisements for the Neon Run last weekend promised free beer and food for runners, along with glow-in-the-dark paint so that they would glow during the nighttime race at Phoenix Firebird Raceway.

That’s not what happened, which upset many participants. There were parking problems, which caused some runners to miss the race start. Nor were the beer and food free.

Race organizers posted an apology on Facebook and directed unhappy runners to contact them for refunds at info@theneonrun.com.

Runners paid $30-$50 to enter. The organizers haven’t been identified.

We want to hear from you.
