Navajo artist representing Arizona at the Grammy Awards

Feb 9, 2013, 5:31 PM | Updated: 5:32 pm

This year, a traditional Navajo artist from Arizona will be representing the state at the Grammy Awards.

Radmilla Cody is nominated for best regional roots album for her work, “Songs of the People.”

“They are songs about life, the land, our sacred mountains, our sacred elements and humor songs and patriotic songs,” Cody said.

She said her songs describe the Navajo way of life. Cody will also be presenting during the Grammy’s pre-telecast ceremony this year.

“It’s truly a blessing and it’s been wonderful,” Cody stated.

Cody is also a domestic violence survivor and uses her own personal experience to advocate against it.
