Mesa police find body near railroad tracks

MESA, Ariz. – A body found near some Mesa railroad tracks is being treated as a homicide, according to police.

Mesa Police Sergeant Tony Landato said officers responded to a shots fired call Wednesday, January 16 shortly after 11 p.m. When officers arrived they found the victim, 31-year-old Matthew Hester, near the railroad tracks near Center and Southern roads with at least one gunshot wound.

Sergeant Landato said there is not much information as no one else was present and the investigation is ongoing as police follow up with leads.
