Saturday nights are usually worth the price of admission at the Barrett-Jackson auction in Scottsdale.
And as the Phoenix Business Journal noted, 2013 was no exception.
This year’s main draw, the original Batmobile driven during the 1960s TV show, was put up for auction with the bidding starting at $100,000.
That price quickly went over a $3 million, before Ahwatukee buyer Rick Champagne closed the bidding at $4.2 million much to delight of the auction crowd.
The car had previously been owned by George Barris.
