GOP politicians told to stop talking about rape

Jan 17, 2013, 4:43 PM | Updated: 4:43 pm

The topic of rape has not been a strong suit for Republicans over the past year and the party’s representatives have been reportedly told to stop talking about the subject.

According to Politico.com, GOP members were told at a Wednesday conference to let the subject lie after several gaffes.

[Pollster Kellyanne] Conway said rape is a “four-letter word,” and Republicans simply need to stop talking about it in their races for office.

Several Republicans, including former Rep. Todd Akin and former Sen. Richard Mourdock, lost their seats in the 2012 election following some insensitive comments about rape.
