Report: Arizona credit card balances drop

Jan 7, 2013, 6:16 PM | Updated: 6:16 pm

It seems like Arizonans are getting a better hold on their credit card debt.

According to Phoenix Business Journal, the average Arizona credit card balance was $1,400 lower in 2012 than 2011.

Arizona residents had an average credit card balance of $5,390 last month, which was an increase of $80 from November. However, it was 26 percent lower than the $6,811 balance Arizonans carried in December 2011.

Arizona has the 23rd-lowest credit card balance in the nation. Mississippi has the lowest, with an average balance of $4,225.
