Dozens of demonstrators protest outside Romney fundraiser

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – On the same day the U.S. Supreme Court
announced its decision on Arizona’s controversial SB 1070
immigration law, Republican Presidential hopeful Mitt
Romney held a campaign fundraiser inside the Scottsdale
Plaza Resort, about 50 demonstrators protested outside in
the heat. They were voicing their displeasure against
both Romney and SB-1070.

Carlos Galindo of the Immigrant Advocacy Foundation said
the Supreme Court decision was “bittersweet.”

“We saw some provisions struck down, and we saw the
segment that allows for what we consider racial profiling
to stand. It’s of grave concern,” Galindo said.

Galindo said that Romney wants immigrants to “self
deport.”

“It’s important that we repudiate Mitt Romney on his
previous comments,” said Galindo. “We don’t believe that
he’s taken a softer stance on the immigrant community. We
believe he’s just pandering for votes.”

Galindo said he’s happy most of SB-1070 was struck down by
the court.
