GLENDALE, Ariz. — The Glendale City Council is expected to approve Friday a 20-year, $325 million plan that will pave the way for the sale of the Phoenix Coyotes hockey team to Greg Jamison and keep them at Jobing.com Arena.
Team fans and opponents of the arena deal gathered outside City Hall before the council’s vote.
Darrold Larson is a season ticket holder and said the nearby Westgate development would be devastated by the loss of the team and so would he.
“The city needs to keep this team. What will they do with Westgate without the team? You only have 10 Cardinal games each season including the preseason.
“They need stabilization with a new owner and a couple of star players. That brings more people out.”
Larson is originally from Chicago.
