Guess who's going to the Democratic National Convention. Republican Sen. Jon Kyl of Arizona.
Why?
``Well, it isn't because I love conventions or I love all my Democratic brethren," Kyl said with a chuckle.
On a more serious note, ``Both parties are allowed to have representatives at each other's conventions. It's part of the political process."
Kyl explained, ``Throughout the Democratic convention, there will be McCain surrogates who will be holding press conferences and basically observing what's going on and commenting on it, obviously from our (Republicans') point of view."
He added, ``Specifically, I know the McCain campaign wants to have a press conference or two each day where they're focused on commenting on what the Democrats, and particularly Sen. Obama, are doing."
Kyl will spend one day as a spokesman for the McCain campaign during the Democrats' convention, which begins Monday in Denver.
