AZ company to research tissue samples

PHOENIX - A European company is funding an Arizona business to conduct research on blood and tissue samples.

Doctor Jeffrey Trent, the president and lead researcher at T-gen, says his company will create a place to store blood and tissue samples which scientists will be able to use to study diseases.

"It's moving in the area of bio-medical science," Trent told KTAR. "[They're] using Arizona as a model."

Trent also says this contract with Luxembourg is major news for the Arizona bio-research community.

"Jobs in that sector are outperformed in virtually every other sector in Arizona at this particular time," said Trent. "That's not just hospital jobs but also jobs in the research area."
